Nestled at the foot of the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple are the historic streets of Gojozaka and Chawanzaka, a centuries-old centre for porcelain production in Kyoto.
Renowned for its wide variety of creative styles and techniques, Kyoto ceramics take the spotlight during the annual WAN WAN ONE event, where over 100 artists showcase their unique craftsmanship. On this tour, you’ll explore the rich history of Kyoto ceramics through insights from your guide, local shopkeepers, and talented artists. You’ll also get the chance to try your hand at pottery making, savour local cuisine in a traditional Japanese house, and enjoy sake tasting in cups crafted by one of the participating artists.

Experience Pottery Making

Feeling inspired? Try your hand at crafting your own pottery at the event workshop. Participants who wish to take their piece home can choose from a variety of colourful glazes for the finishing touch. Once completed, your personalised creation will be mailed directly to your door!

Enjoy Japanese bento in a traditional house

A bento bursting with seasonal flavors from a local restaurant with over 300 years of history will be served in a beautiful machiya, a traditional Kyoto-style house.

Sample local sake

No Japanese meal is complete without sake, and it’s best enjoyed from the perfect vessel. Your guide will walk you through the nuances of Kyoto’s local sake, explaining how the different flavour profiles are enhanced by the vessels they’re served in.

For reservations, we request a notice of cancellation or any changes to your booking at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to notify us within this timeframe may result in a cancellation fee of 50% charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking. No-shows on the day will be charged 100% of the event fee. This policy helps ensure space for other guests, and prevents food wastage.  ensuring we provide an exceptional experience  to all our guests.
