10th Edition of WAN wan ONE
November 1–30, 2021
Thank you for visiting.
The 10th edition of WAN wan ONE was held during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the importance of continuing to share culture, organizers and participants worked together to create an exhibition with many events despite those difficult times and the strict restrictions on social events.
We sincerely thank everyone who supported us during the pandemic.
At the time, the ‘10th Edition Gallery’ button led to a sales page. You can now view exhibition scenes in each program below.
the WAN wan ONE Exhibition
In 2021, we once again held the WAN wan ONE Exhibition, the main exhibition of Kyoto Yakimono Week – WAN wan ONE. Visitors enjoyed a diverse selection of refined works combining tradition and innovation.

Guinomi and Ochoko Sake Cup Exhibition
The Guinomi and Ochoko Sake Cup Exhibition was held for the first time as part of the 10th edition. Many artists exhibited a variety of sake vessels, and these appealing works were available for purchase during the event.
Shoki Festival – ONLINE –
The eighth Shoki Festival in 2021 was again limited to a Shinto ceremony without spectators. Instead, a video was streamed live on YouTube from Shoki Shrine. Thank you for joining us through YouTube to see Shoki, who protects us from misfortune.
The photograph included on the original page is not shown here: its EXIF capture date is November 2022, during the 11th edition, confirming that it was not taken at the 10th edition in 2021. The photograph itself appears to be from the 11th edition.
Tosai: Zodiac Clay Bells and Incense Containers
Each year, Tosai displayed newly designed and made zodiac clay bells alongside incense containers based on them. Seeing these cheerful, colorful zodiac bells lifted people’s spirits during the dark days of the pandemic.

Kyo Ware Legends Exhibition
Modern masters admired across generations
An exhibition centered on works by modern masters connected with Kyoto, including Kanjiro Kawai, Rokubei Kiyomizu, Munemaro Ishiguro, Yaichi Kusube, Yuzo Kondo, and Uichi Shimizu.

Contemporary Vessel
Vessels produced as art multiples by Takahiro Kondo and Akira Yamada were displayed. A vivid landscape of blue and red: works with striking colors and simple forms that somehow stir the heart.

Tea Bowls: Higashiyama Kaiseikan Tea Ceremony Club Exhibition
We had previously held the Higashiyama Kaiseikan Children’s Grand Tea Gathering with pupils and students from the Higashiyama Kaiseikan tea ceremony club, but unfortunately it was difficult to hold the tea gathering in 2021. Instead, an exhibition of matcha bowls painted by the children was held at Komura Gallery, where visitors enjoyed their expressive individual works.
Ikebana: Arranging Flowers in a Climbing Kiln
The Gojozaka Kyo-yaki noborigama (climbing kiln) is among the largest surviving climbing kilns in Kyoto. An ikebana exhibition made use of this kiln space, displaying arrangements in flower vases and other vessels preserved from its working days.

Rice Bowls: Ocha-Wan Exhibition
This event exhibited and sold bowls for eating rice, rather than tea bowls for drinking matcha.
